Rule #9.

From how to blog by Tony Pierce:

9. use Blogger. it's easy, it's free; and because they are owned by Google, your blog will get spidered better, you will show up in more search results, and more people will end up at your blog. besides, all the other blogging software & alternatives pretty much suck.
Well, yeah. I tried LiveJournal, and it was okay for a while. But Blogger is much better. There are some features I wish it had, like categories and trackback, but it meets most of my needs. Damn I do want those categories, though.

I'd switch to Blogger full time in a heartbeat if I could easily look over my friends list for recent posts and get notices when people respond to my stuff. Until they do that, though, I'm a slave to LJ.

You can take advantage of technorati to add tags to your blog posts. That's pretty much equivalent to categories.

Hmm. Good suggestion, David. I'm familiar with the way Flickr handles that. But I want to be able to search my blog by category, and I'm not sure the Technorati tags allow that. I have Google search for my blog, but it doesn't work. Or it doesn't work the way I want it to.
