Death talks about life.
Neil said this on his blog. I love Dee Dee.
Incidentally, the exact and complete Death quote (from Death Talks About Life) isDeath, from the Endless in Sandman comics, is this cute little goth girl that shows up when it's your time and hangs out for a while, and then you go away with her and be dead. Much nicer than that reaper chap."Life -- and I don't suppose I'm the first to make this comparison -- is a disease: sexually transmitted, and invariably fatal."(Which I put up here for the benefit of anyone googling it, because I notice that there are a few different versions out there.)

While his death isn't necessarily a cute little goth girl, you should read Piers Anthony's On a Pale Horse. Not at all the Xanth fare, but it deals with a lot of similar issues that the Death character in Sandman did, though somewhat abbreviated.
The rest of the books are largely less worth reading, but if you like On a Pale Horse, read the second, Bearing an Hourglass, and if you hate that, stop, because it gets worse from there.
But the first one's decent...:)
My authentication word is "wifpwz," which my first glance said "wtfpwnz," which I thought was uber.
If the last woman I ever saw looked like Tori Amos aged 23, I would die a happy man.
