Take an active role in what you're doing.

Here's a quote from The World's Most Famous Celebutante, America's Sweetheart Paris Hilton, upon the eve of her incarceration.

In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make.
Does that make your head spin? When I make a decision, I take a large active role. If I allow others to make decisions for me and just do what they say, I'm not making the decision, am I? This is like saying, "I'm going to take a more active role in the things I'm doing." Methinks by definition I'm involved in the things I'm doing, or else someone else would be doing them.

Maybe she meant to say, "participating in decisions that affect me." Me am confused, as Bizarro might say. At least Our Favorite Heiress will have a few weeks to think things over. See you on the other side, Blondie.

So the whole deal here was that her PR guy told her to drive somewhere when she had a suspended license, right? And his bad advice led to her going to jail. At least that's what I got from the story. So she's saying that she's going to not always do what the person that is paid to tell her what to do tells her to do. I'd try to put myself in her shoes but I'm so confused I think I'd put them on my hands and start walking on all fours, mooing a dirty moo. or something. I'm confused.

When I read this, I thought of a comment I heard on some Nicktoons show recently I was watching with my kids. I don't remember it exactly, but it went something like, "If all of your friends were named Cliff would you jump off them?"

That's the kind of advice I assume Paris got growing up. If that ever happened.

I, for one, plan to take a more active role in the comments I leave on your blog.

I can't believe you actually paid attention to Paris Hilton long enough to realize she said something dumb. I figured it'd pretty much just be a given.
