Pop culture game snacks.
Oh joy, somebody is making a new DVD trivia board game. (Does that even make sense what I said?) Gee, I think the kids will really like it, since they seem to go for those video game things. Delightfully, the Fark thread commenting on this article has dozens and dozens of examples of board games that actually have good gameplay instead of some dopey DVD interface.
DVD games are at the epicenter of a growing trend in which board game developers want interactive technology to bring people together -- combating the Internet, iPods and Playstations, which largely focus on individual entertainment.Does the guy that wrote that know what it means? I sure don't.
This is the kind of shit we get here in the USA. Like watching TV shows on my phone. Who the fuck wants that? Remember when video first came to the internet and it was 300x200 pixels and nobody wanted to watch it? Yeah, I want to carry that in my pocket. I just want to make a goddamned phone call.
Jesus Christ, I wish Mary J Blige would quit hollering.
I'm so glad I have this forum on the internet to share with you all. I'll be home on Tuesday, I swear this kind of bile venting will once again recede into the background. Probably.

I think trivia games with DVDs are fine when they actually utilize the fact that they have sound and video. So, the Scene It games are okay, because they need to show clips from television shows and they take advantage of game-show like pictures that become less scrambled over time or blanks that fill in over time (though I actually don't like those questions because they aren't trivia).
On the other hand, having to divert one's attention from TV to board can be quite distracting which is why all of these games might be a better experience if they were on the Playstation.
I don't really know where I'm going with this. I've played some games where I think having the DVD is just a gimmick and actually detracts from the gameplay (I'm looking at you, Trivial Pursuit DVD edition) and some where it adds something. Basically, don't use a DVD just for the sake of technology - use it because it adds something to the gameplay experience.
I'm glad I have porn on my video ipod. it doesn't matter how small it is...the porn I mean
