Post without posting.

Yes, it's true. I have enough time to post comments on other blogs and not enough time to post on my own. Is that possible? I think there's a certain level of available time that fits that description. So here we have a non-post, just to let you know I'm alive. I was proud of that post-a-day streak back there for a while, but all streaks are meant to end, just like any kind of streaks the fucking Patriots still have going.

I've been juggling two freelance jobs, one here in town and one contract work from out of town. While this is a Good Thing(TM), it's been a strain on the membrane. I've talked with a couple of people who have freelanced to make a living, trying to get some tips. Just another interesting part of the adventure begun on Black Thursday. The roller coaster takes some unexpected turns along with the ups and downs, it seems.

The title of this post is a riff on a Legend of the Five Rings card, so it's appropriate now to beam some hopeful thoughts to the nice people of Alderac. Make sure to include those who have recently left the company, which is "downsizing." We all know how painful that can be.

Is it just me, or is that letter you linked to much more straightforward and less bullshitty than other website-posted letters we may have all read on similar subjects in the recent past?

Yeah, I think that Zinser is a real straight shooter. I've never really met him, but everybody says he's one of the good ones.

Zinser is a terrific guy, as heads of state go. He's pretty straightforward and direct, and if he put a letter like that out to everyone, he definitely means it.

Anyway, any news on who exactly got canned from AEG? Wondering if I should drive down to south county and offer Rich a beer.

I'm of two minds on this. One, I think those that were laid off deserve to not be held up on the 'Net as "these were the ones who got screwed". On the other side, those of us that know them, would certainly like to know in case there's anything we can do.

Either way, on the subject of John, I met him (and his incredibly lovely wife) at Essen and yeah, he seems like one of the good guys.

What the hell does THIS mean???

Hmm... Zinser's post contains regret, remorse, acknowledgement that people are actually leaving, encouragement to the people who are leaving.

Crucially, it shuts down the rumour mill before it can start.
