The Today Show has the worst interviewers.

I've watched The Today Show as part of my morning routine for... well, for decades. I like having the television on, almost all the time, and I like the sound of voices to keep me company.

In fact, our beloved dog Raven would go to bed when the TV was turned off during the day, because that normally only happens when we go to bed. For our visitors who wonder why I almost always have the TV on even when nobody is watching, perhaps this helps. I love television, and I hate it when people bash TV. But I digress.

Bryant Gumbel is perhaps the only good interviewer ever on The Today Show, although Jane Pauley used to be good when she was new and trying to prove herself. But Gumbel was a son of a bitch, and that doesn't fit well with the morning format. I admit that morning show folks have to be somewhat perky to fit the mold.

Anyway, here is one thing that happens all the time on Today, and not just from that perky Virginia gal, Couric: "You must be feeling very angry right now." This is not really a question, and if it is a question, boy is it a leading question. Don't assume how they feel, ASK them how they feel. I find this very annoying, like it's not an interview, it's just an article written by the interviewer with spaces for the interviewee to say, "Yes, that's right."

Couric outdid herself this morning though, with the statement: "There must be no words to describe how you're feeling right now." The interviewee stopped and stared like she didn't know what to say, or if she should say anything. She instinctively realized the conundrum, because if that statement can be made, then there ARE words to describe how you're feeling, which means that if you say yes the answer is no.

Made my head spin.

Oh wait... the new girl Alexis Glick is smoking hot. Just had to mention that.

Impressive resume. Whereas Couric reminds me of my ex's mother. No contest!
