Review: Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

This movie delivered, for my money. Which was cheap because LWC gets discount tickets. But Hell, I would have paid full price to see this, not just matinee prices. I wanted to see it from the first promo I saw at the theaters.

So that means I had high expectations, usually a dangerous prospect for an action movie. Some review compared it to "War of the Roses," another twisted romantic comedy (the couple doesn't usually shoot at each other, do they?) featuring two actors I liked, which was AWFUL.

Anyway, action sequences good, slow-mo, bombs, guns, present and accounted for. Along with some classic John Woo moments (The Pitt sliding along the floor firing a pistol) we get an action movie first, the two of them are facing each other, like a hug almost, and firing guns in opposite directions. Cool stuff.

Most importantly, the flick didn't take itself seriously, and was clever without being sappy. A funny, romantic action flick that looked great and had pretty people in it? What's not to like? No, it's not Top 100 material, but I had a great time.
