It's baaack.

Not many changes really, but the important thing is my mad HTML skeelz. After all my talk about Meet John Doe, it ended up in that category of "Very good but not Top 100 material." I still have a list of films I need to see again to properly evaluate them (that's where Casablanca came from).

I'd wondered what you thought of Sin City. Now I know. :-)

It was an interesting experience for me in the theater, because I knew what was going to happen. The audience reactions featured a lot of "What the hell was THAT?" kind of sputtering noises, hard to describe in words.

People have hailed the film as "the best translation of a comic book to the screen," but Rodriguez said he just wanted to "film the book," so that's not surprising. Except that nobody had ever done that before.

The casting was UNBELIEVABLE! The characters were exquisitely similar to their depictions in the source material. When I heard this movie was being made, I was so thrilled. A collaboration between three of my idols, couldn't be better!

Someone should make a comment about me not liking movies when I know what's going to happen. That's still true, and I think this would have really blown me away if I hadn't read the books previously. That's the only reason it's as "low" as 22 on my list.

Shocho, where did you find Rebecca? I've been looking for it to rent or buy with no success.

I am jealous of your HTML skillz! Thought I was doing well near the top - only 5 movies in the top 50 I haven't seen, and one is Sin City. (16/100 was the final score.)
The only ones I've seen and DON'T like are Catch-22 and Kill Bill.
And it's very refreshing to see more than just mainstream/fanboy movies made 1977 or later!

Your list is like my list, only with a bunch of movies that just barely missed my cut. Dogma and X-2 were just off the bottom, for example. With some exceptions, of course, but just a few.

Makes me think I should go watch the ones on your list that I haven't seen.

Major: I found Rebecca at the Naro Video Store. It's a Criterion Collection DVD.

Kathy: I feel the same way about your list! :)

Marcus: I can say the same about your list. I liked it a lot.
