What are we doing in Iraq?

Why are we there? We can't leave until somebody can answer this question.

It seems like a simple question. "The United States has 150,000 troops deployed in Iraq because..." I can't finish that sentence.

Personally, and this is just me, when I'm doing something and I don't know why, I quit doing that and do something else.

Iraq has under it's soil the very last easily accessible oil fields on the planet.

The U.S. are building dozens of permanent military bases there.

It's straightforward, but they'll never say it. It's a dandy foothold in the best oil producing region of the world as well.

That's right! Just like the first Gulf War was all about us getting free oil. Oh wait. We must have forgotten it.

I will agree that this war is ridiculous and we need to be out of there. Let's take all of the money we're spending on the war, put a hydrogen fuel cell distributor on every corner and convert all the cars and this situation will right itself.
