I got a lot for my thirteen cents.

March 5th was the 2nd anniversary of my World of Warcraft account. A player can see how many hours a character in WoW has been around by simply typing "/played" into the chat line. I have a dozen or more characters on several servers, but for the top five I have totaled my play time.

Their levels are 65, 63, 43, 38, and 31. They are of five different classes and five different races. Four are Alliance and one is Horde. The highest level character makes up more than half of the playing time.

In two years, I have played 2,995 hours on those five characters. I was without full-time work for eight months in that stretch, which means I probably won't top this in my next two years. If I'm still playing in 2009, that is.

Paying $15 per month, adding $40 twice for the game and its only expansion, and deducting the two 60-day cards I was gifted, that's a total cost of $380 and an hourly cost of 12.7 cents. That is one hell of a fucking deal in my book.

I'm surprised that you haven't blogged about the new "big brother" or rather, the Armory.

Btw - how fucking hard must it be to grind in a prot spect for your warrior?
