Big and Bad.

If you're like me, there are things that upset you, and you complain about them. You try to express yourself in a rational manner so that the people you're communicating with can see your point of view. Mostly this comes out as incomprehensible blather.

If you're very lucky, someone whose job it is to write things says what you've been trying to say for years. Often, that person is Malcolm Gladwell, for me, at least. Here, he explains the birth of the Stupid Unnecessary Vehicle, why they are unsafe, and why people like them. A terrifying story of the victory of the reptilian hindbrain over the cerebral cortex, and why cupholders are so important.

That was a really good article. In fact, I believe you should have to read and sign it before you are allowed to purchase one of those "vehicles". I only wish he would have also mentioned the emissions from those stupid things, and how they are mysteriously exempt from any environmental responsibility.

In short, (and remember, I admit I suck at geography on a daily basis, so just because I say you suck, it doesn't mean you have to be in a tizzy about it—you just do, and you should accept that) S.U.V.s suck and so do the people who buy and drive them.

Thanks for the article, CK.

I may have posted this article before, but it's so goddamned good I may post it every day. I wish Blogger had categories or the Google search of my website worked. Jesus, I need a research staff.
