Enough about that, let's talk about me.
I've been thinking about the meaning of phrases like "unemployed," "out of work" and "between jobs" lately, and I've come to the decision I'm not so bad off. Since the begining of August, I've been freelancing in the graphic design department of a local manufacturing firm, thanks to Ed. For a long while there, I was working 40 hours a week, and many employees couldn't understand why I didn't get an ID badge. Just like full time. Except for taxes and stuff, I'm aware of that.
As that has been winding down, I began freelancing for WizKids, thanks to Mark. I'm working on a new TCG for them. I even flew out to their offices in Seattle (Bellevue, actually) for a few days. One month-long contract is complete, but I'm starting another one Monday. I fly out there for three months.
I'll be coming home for a week at Christmas, but this will be tough for LWC and I. We've never been apart for more than about five days since... oh, since sometime in 1977. We're gonna soldier through this because it's a great opportunity. All of you who told me not to settle and "pursue the dream," that's what I'm doing. I guess I'm only the second refugee from the game studio to get a design opportunity (along with Evan).
I should be able to blog, read emails and play WoW, so I'll be in touch with most of you despite the time shift. I'm trying to look at all this as a big adventure, but from right here right now, three months sounds like a long, long time.

Congrats Chuck, that is awesome.
Other than that Seattle thing, ick :)
I know that Trevor is baiting me but don't expect a defense. I'm not that attached yet. :)
I am happy for you and this opportunity.
You guys helped me so much when the mister and I were separated I wish I could be there to help one of you. If there's anything we can do to help let us know. Really.
Good luck Chuck! Remember, 6 months from now the 3 months will have seemed to flew by. Not sure if that sentence makes sense? But anyway I wish you the best.
I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see (or read) the fruits of your labor.
Now that I know you're working on "the WizKids game" (isn't it public info yet?), I feel much better about it not sucking! I'm also glad to hear you're back in "the field".
Sometime during that 3 month window, feel free to goad Mark into finally making the trip up to visit and I'll treat you both to a dinner and some drinks.
It's going to be tough living apart but I'm sure that 3 months will pass quickly enough. Sounds like a fun adventure - good luck to you!
wow, that's a great opportunity
I'm coming late to this party, but congratulations, and good luck.
And I hope you and LWC both do alright in your time apart.
