Penny Arcade talks about WoW endgame.
Gabe characterizes instance runs for equipment like trips to the casino.
The frustrating part is that even if I hit that jackpot and I am able to obtain my Shadowcraft set, what then? I’m doing all this and after it’s all done I’ll look just like every other level 60 Rogue.Tycho talks about the metamorphosis.
...what type of game it is actually changes as you ascend in levels, so it makes perfect sense to me if you were in for the infatuation period but perhaps not in for the hard work of making a marriage last. And about the need for grouping and the increased travel.
Ultimately, it ceases being a game that you can play by yourself or in twos or threes. It stops being the game you were playing and becomes something else. And, once you get a mount, Blizzard feels quite comfortable making you run your ass off for an hour a night.I've had some of these same feelings about my level 60 character, but I very much enjoy the two sets of characters that LWC and I play together. There are a lot of different games in WoW. The level 20 game is different from the level 40 game and the level 60 game. The good thing is they're all always available to you once you find out which one you like best.

This is exactly why I don't play WoW anymore. No end game. I have nothing to look forward to other than a big fat 60 under my little portrait.
I think it's a great game, but they have work to do.
What we've found is that you can still go somewhere else (else meaning faction, class, race, PVP, whatever) and have a great time all over again.
Well, my point is that there's no real reason to. I can level a character to 60, enjoy it, then I have two choices:
Either go and level another character to 60, knowing that there's nothing for me to do after that point, again.
Or I can go play Dark Age of Camelot and take all my max level characters and go kill some people in the frontiers.
I chose the latter. :)
My new plan is to try to run the high level instances with guildies and friends, which I think will make the whole experience much more enjoyable. If they'll still have me after all this bitching, of course.
PVP >>> PVE
Call me when you get to level 60 with that PVP character, and we'll talk. :)
Hence why I play Dark Age of Camelot, Girardo. You can vaguely level to cap (50) in PvP, though it's rough. And once you hit 50, you have nothing but PvP ahead of you.
I hit 49 last night after the shmorgasboard (ouch) of xp that spewed forth from 7 random quests in Hinterlands (4400 a pop).
And then I was riding back to get some random lunch that some ogre guy lost, I get sheeped. Needless to say, Magic Resistance Potions do not work. Of course, when the Mage misses the second freeze in place his days were numbered. And that bastard tried to blink...silly mage, swiftness potions are for Tauren Warriors!!!
Why'd the silly mage lead with the Polymorph? *boggle*
