Munchkins I have known.

Once upon a time we took Brian and a school friend of his (or was it his nephew? can't recall) to a Cardinals game at Busch Stadium (because that's where the team plays when they're in St. Louis). I remember waiting in line for some considerable time and we met (actually just kind of noticed him, since he's really short) Mickey Caroll who was also in line. He seemed to enjoy entertaining impromptu crowds with the fact that he did, indeed, play a Munchkin in the film The Wizard of Oz.

Very cheery and pleasant fellow, who welcomed the attention of passersby. No dead witches or yellow brick roads were in evidence, in case you were wondering (and this had nothing to do with my acid trip, which happened much later). The linked article is news of his 86th birthday party, so good on him, you go, Mickey. This explains how I have met more Munchkins than you have.

On the convention circuit I met Mike TeeVee from the original Willy Wonka movie. Though his defining cool moment is as one of the bowlers in the opening to The Big Lebowski.

I was in an airport in Philly once, and walked up and introduced myself to Fred Williamson.

For those of you who don't know who he is, he was the actor who was on the receiving end of Clint Eastwood's gun when he said "Did I fire 6 shots? Or just 5? Well punk, do you feel lucky?"

So, that is how I have met more actors on the receiving end of famously overused Clint Eastwood movie lines than you.

Oh, I forgot. Williamson then uttered the not-so-famous, but should be comeback:

"Hey man. I gots (sic) to know..."

Damn. Now I must meet the unnamed actress to whom Eastwood said, in Thunderbolt and Lighfoot: "Hey where did you get those pants?" Close the Clint Gap!

Be easier to find than Munchkins, I bet. Those little guys are dropping like flies.
