Stinky is easier than tasty.
Today, I tried Coke with Lime. Smelled good, tasted bad. Odorant technology is ahead of flavorant technology. You see, students, in the real world, the things we eat and drink don't have real stuff in them. No Cherry in the Cherry Soda, no Strawberry in the Strawberry Soda. Okay, maybe miniscule amounts of "natural flavors" (remember, ingredient lists are in order of decreasing amount).
Food scientists decide to make Coke with Lime, and the guy that says, "Yeah, let's put some lime juice in there!" is immediately ostracized, beaten, and his family is taken hostage. No, they all decide that the pseudo-lime created in the laboratory, much like fake breasts, is better than the real thing.
The problem is that the guys who make the odorant additives have been ostracized and beaten less than the guys who make the flavorant additives. So we get blueberry oatmeal that smells terrific and tastes lousy. Same for Lime Coke. Don't get me started on Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper (no period, look it up) which has zero chance of success.
Why does Cherry Coke taste good? This is one of the Unknowable Facts That Make Life Worth Living.

The thing that bothers me the most about Lime Coke is the ads.
See, I used to really like the Lime in the Coconut song. I have it on my iPod - it makes me want to drink fruity island adult beverages when I hear it.
But now I think of that stupid comercial and Coke. I don't like Coke [or pepsi or other colas] unless there is some rum in it. Maybe that will be the next thing Coke will mix into their Coke ...
Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper? Why don't they just add chocolate and call it Neapolitan Dr Pepper?
