Review: Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
LWC and I thought it was great. I chuckled all the way through, and Cheryl even laughed out loud a couple of times, which is unusual for her. The snorting (onscreen) was held to a minimum. Dietrich Bader (of Drew Carey and Office Space fame) was absolutely hilarious as a gay hairdresser. Metacritic was not so kind. Fuck them guys. We like Sandy B and the first movie was good too. For my money, Sandy B is hotter and sexier because she's funny and smart.
I will now mention two things that will make you think I didn't like the movie, but if you're reading in order and reading for content, you will realize that is not true.
First, the finale includes an underwater sequence. This invokes what I call the "Thunderball factor." The James Bond movie of that name was super hyped has having the most expensive and elaborate underwater action scenes ever filmed. What everybody forgot (and they still continue to forget) is that underwater, everything happens in super slow motion. It's boring as hell. Like watching grass grow. Look! That guy is punching that guy! Why did it take three minutes? In fact, because I don't swim, these scenes should be gripping and terrifying to me, but they're still fucking boring. (I won't mention diving in WoW, that's for the other blog.)
Secondly, and I find this peculiar, there were no credits at the beginning of the movie. None at all. Not even the name of the movie. Nothing until the very end, when there was a clever credit and blooper sequence which still saved the name of the movie until about 2 minutes into those credits. Is this the only movie to have done this? I can't think of another movie that did that.
In the 40s, the Hayes Office or some government agency said that you had to have full credits at the beginning and only "The End" at the end. Obviously, there are no such rules these days. I have seen films that end abruptly. Monty Python and the Holy Grail, when you see it in the original cut, just stops with a film break.
I can't recall another movie that has zero credits until the end. And I've seen a lot of movies.

I'm fairly certain the original theatrical release of Tombstone did not feature credits or title, but I can't verify that claim. Later releases of the film show the title but no credits in the opening sequence.
Apocalypse Now.

Thanks, Person of Mystery. I figured there had to be another example of this somewhere.
